I want to thank everybody who showed up for our last plate shoot for the
year. The turnout wasn't very big as we only had nine shooters, but the
enthusiasm was high. The weather might have been a factor for the low turnout since
it was reported to morning rain, but it was dry the whole time and even the
sun came out.
I want to apologize to those who everybody who was there for not having
the El Presidente up and running. It was only Dennis and myself working the
match, so we didn't have enough people to run it. Hopefully, next year, we'll
have people on our committee who will show up and help out.
Due to the wet ground we couldn't have our regular type of match, so we
had the zig-zag event again. Even though it's a simple concept, you do have
to use your brain and think where the next shot goes. To make it even more
aggravating we threw in a few hostages here and there. I was going to leave them
out for this last shoot and make it easy for everybody, but Dennis convinced
me to be cruel and throw them in. In spite of them we had some good scores.
Ismael Gomez had two great runs to take first place. Great shooting
Ismael. There were other good scores too. The only difference between second and third
place was 1.13 seconds. I won't mention my score. Let's just say I haven't
practiced much and let it go at that.
We will be starting up the plate shoots again in April. I will put a
reminder in the newsletter in March to give people plenty of notice. Thanks to
everybody who showed up this year to participate in the matches. I had a lot
of fun doing them, and I hope you had a lot of fun shooting them.A special thanks to Dennis Nelson and those others who helped set up and
tear down. Without your help we couldn't put these matches on. See you in
April, and remember, keep that finger off the trigger until your sights are on
the target.
