I want to thank the sixteen shooters who turned up for our August match. It was hotter than the hinges of Hades doors. The only saving grace was that it wasn't very humid.
As usual we had some really great scores today. Unfortunately some of those were marred by hostage hits. The guys were really bummed when they hit them, and the hostages weren't to thrilled either. But in the end Joel Vaughn came out on top in the Main Event with a combined score of 57.54 seconds. Great shooting Joel. In the El Presedente match Joel's dad, Rich Vaughn, came in first with a 25.27 seconds. Of course when your loads are so underpowered that you can see the bullets go down range, your recoil isn't very stiff so you can shoot faster. Right, Rich? But I will give him credit. He had no misses in the timed rounds which contributed
to his winning scores. Good shooting Rich.
We had something different in the Main Event this time. We included some bowling pins in the mix. There were only three of them, and you had to knock them down, but not off, the table. Most people had no trouble hitting them, but they did have to slow down a little to aim. We got a lot of positive feedback on using these and will probably be using them in the future. Those of us on the Plate Shoot Committee would like to hear your suggestions on how to keep the matches fresh, fun and challenging. Please feel free to let us know your ideas. We are limited on budget so we may not be able to use your suggestions, but we are always willing to listen.
If you have any questions or comments, you can email me at pl8shootr@sbcglobal.net. Our next match is Saturday September 8th Starting at 10:00 AM. Get there a little early to sign up and load your
mags. Shoot safe, and focus on that front sight.
