October 13th, 2007 STEEL PLATE SHOOT

I want to apologize to all of you who took part in the final plate shoot of the year for not getting this report to you sooner. I got busy right after the match and then as time went on procrastination got the better of me. My wife isn't real happy either with that habit of mine.

Anyway, I want to thank everybody who showed up for the last match. We had 21 shooters try to give their best at the Main Event. The zig-zag course was a little taxing for some, since you had to think about where your next target was and not go on auto-pilot. Then just to show how sadistic our crew is, we threw in some hostages for good measure. Going over the scores, those poor hostages took a heck of a beating. Needless to say, we didn't get a lot of great scores, but everybody had a fun time.

Shannan Chada came out on top of the main event with a combined score of 52.56 seconds. Even with one hostage hit, he still came in first. Congratulations Shannan.

The El Presidente event had a lot of really fast times that went down the tubes when you put in the misses. If you guys would just slow down a fraction and concentrate on the front sight, you would have some incredible scores. Oh well, as long you enjoyed shooting it, that's all that counts. Shannan Chada came in first again. This must have been Shannan's day. Congrats on some great shooting Shannan.

We had eight people shoot the .22 drag race. We hope to have that as a permanent addition next year, so everybody bring your .22's and give it a try. It's a lot of fun even if we don't keep scores. Who knows, if enough people want it, we could have an elimination tournament to see who comes out on top. We shall see.

I hope everybody who shot the plates this year had a good time. We try to give everybody a fun but challenging time. If anybody has any suggestions on making it better, please give me a shout at pl8shootr@sbcglobal.net.  We have a limited budget, but you never know. Hope to see everybody at our next match April 12, 2008. Have a good winter and we'll see you in the spring.
