22 Rifle Shoot - May 31st, 2008 Another .22 rifle fun shoot has come and gone, and from what I heard, everybody had a great time. We had 34 entries give it their best shot. Not as many as we had hoped, but still a good turnout. Because the weather looked like it could rain any minute when we started, probably kept a lot of people away. But not a drop fell and the sun came out after a while. Unfortunately the wind kicked in and definitely made it harder to keep the sights on the targets. We had some families come out and shoot with their kids. One gentleman brought his daughter, who had never shot a gun before. She ended up hitting a few targets which made her day. That's one of the reasons we hold this event, to get new shooters and younger shooters involved and give them a fun and positive experience with firearms so they want to come back. I don't believe we got any perfect scores, mainly due to the wind. A couple of guys came real close, but those pesky turkeys at 75 yards did them in. We are planning on having another fun shoot Aug. 30, the last Saturday of the month. As the time gets closer we will give more details on the web site and in the newsletter. Even though this day is the start of Labor Day weekend we hope you will mark your calendars and stop by. With the rising gas prices, you can stay close to home and have fun with your friends and family for the day and not spend a fortune. I want to thank Denny Nelson, Rick Heyt, Dan Larabel, Scott Larabel, and Dave Krysiak for helping with this event. Without you guys we couldn't have pulled it off. See everybody at the next fun shoot.
